Rebel Wolves did not wait long. Within 36 hours of launch, the studio shipped two follow-up patches for The Blood of Dawnwalker: Hotfix 1.0.2 on September 3, 2026, the same day as launch, and Hotfix 1.0.3 on September 4, 2026. Neither patch is large, but the cadence is the story — Rebel Wolves is patching in public, in real time, with specific bug names attached to specific fixes.
Hotfix 1.0.2 was rolled out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The full list of changes, per the SteamDB mirror of the Steam Community announcement (steamdb.info/patchnotes/25107392/):
Quests
- Coen can talk to Farkas now even after killing all NPCs around him.
- Lunka no longer gets lost when leading Coen in the tutorial.
- Uriashi blacksmith learned how to craft a certain holy sword.
Gameplay
- Adjustments to controller dead zone and input issues while sprinting (PC only).
The Farkas conversation fix is the most-played quest in the patch notes. Players who cleared the immediate area of hostiles found that Farkas, the character Coen needs to speak with to advance a side thread, would refuse dialogue and lock the quest. The fix is a one-line condition check on the kill counter, but it was the kind of bug that could trap a player for an hour. The Lunka fix is similar — the tutorial guide was pathing off the intended route and walking Coen back to a waypoint with a shrug emoji of confusion. The Uriashi blacksmith fix lets the smith actually craft a specific holy sword that was previously missing from the recipe list, closing out a weapon upgrade path that opened up near the end of Act 2.
The PC-only controller dead zone adjustment is the gameplay fix most players will feel. Sprinting on PC with a controller had a noticeable input lag and a small dead zone that made Coen’s dash feel sticky. The adjustment loosens the dead zone and tightens the sprint cancellation curve, which should make the Shadowstep and Wall Running build smoother in practice.
The 1.0.2 patch notes also include a “Known Issues” section that Rebel Wolves is still investigating, as confirmed by addictinggames.com (addictinggames.com/news/the-blood-of-dawnwalker-gets-its-first-post-launch-hotfix):
- Game stuttering when in Windowed or Borderless mode. Workaround: launch the game in Full Screen mode.
- Game crashing on compiling shaders. Workaround: check if your BIOS is up to date.
- Missing option to map buttons on a PS5 gamepad. Workaround not provided; a fix is in development.
For console players, there is also a known issue where sprinting can stop when changing direction with a gamepad. Rebel Wolves recommends lowering the controller sensitivity from 1.0 to 0.8 in the system settings as a temporary workaround, with a proper fix planned for a later hotfix.
Hotfix 1.0.3 followed on September 4, 2026, the next day. It is a one-line patch:
Plugin
- Added DualSense® support on Steam.
This is a Steam-specific plugin change. Prior to 1.0.3, the Steam release of The Blood of Dawnwalker read DualSense controllers as generic DirectInput gamepads. That meant the adaptive triggers did not fire, the haptic feedback was reduced to a single rumble motor, and the touchpad was unmapped. The DualSense plugin routes the controller through Sony’s HID layer so the triggers register as analog input with proper resistance curves and the haptics fire on both motors. This does not affect PS5 console play — that path was always native. It is also separate from the “missing option to map buttons on a PS5 gamepad” issue from 1.0.2, which is about Steam Input button remapping and is still being worked on.
For the wiki, the implication is that the Hex Magic: Burning Blood and Three Skill Trees Builds pages can now correctly describe DualSense-specific feedback on PC Steam, and the Everything We Know So Far page should add a “PC Steam: DualSense plugin via hotfix 1.0.3” line in the platform section. There is no public patch note yet for a stuttering fix or the BIOS-shader-crash workaround list, so the 1.0.2 Known Issues section should be cited as still-open when describing the First 30 Days Survival Guide performance expectations.
The bigger pattern is the one worth keeping on the wiki: Rebel Wolves is patching at a cadence of roughly one small hotfix per day in the launch window, with specific bug names attached to specific fixes, and with public Known Issues lists that include workarounds. That is a healthier launch posture than the late-August performance conversation suggested, and it is the kind of post-launch story the Updates Archive exists to track.
