Rebel Wolves crossed the gate on September 3, 2026. The Blood of Dawnwalker shipped worldwide on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S — the first chapter of the Dawnwalker Saga, four years in the making. The studio also dropped a same-day patch, version 1.003.000, that adds the three console performance modes Rebel Wolves promised after the late-August backlash, the PS5 Pro enhancements the launch trailer quietly promised, and PC-side frame generation support.
Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves confirmed the launch day in the morning with an embargo-lift press release. “Today, we are releasing our very first game, The Blood of Dawnwalker,” said Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Rebel Wolves co-founder and game director. “I want to thank every member of our Pack, all the partners who joined us on this journey, our understanding families, and, of course, the players who have supported us from the very beginning” (bandainamcoent.com/news/the-blood-of-dawnwalker-is-now-available). Rebel Wolves now numbers 160 people across the project, up from the small founding group announced in 2024.
The same-day patch is the bigger story for anyone playing on console hardware. As documented by asumetech.com (asumetech.com/2026/09/03/blood-of-dawnwalker-1-003-60fps-ps5-pro-patch-notes/), version 1.003 introduces three console presets that were not available at the original late-August build:
- Performance Mode — 60fps. Targets a stable 60 frames per second at the cost of internal resolution. This is the mode the late-August backlash was about, and the reason Rebel Wolves went back to the engine to add it.
- Balanced Mode — 40fps. Targets 40 frames per second, designed for 120Hz displays with VRR. It aims higher than 60fps in visual fidelity while staying smoother than 30fps. This is the headline new option for VRR-capable TVs and monitors.
- Quality Mode — 30fps. Locks at 30fps but pushes lighting, shadows, and draw distance to maximum.
PlayStation 5 Pro gets exclusive visual upgrades on top of those three modes, leveraging PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) for cleaner image reconstruction in Performance and Balanced. PC gets the bigger half of the patch:
- NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation for RTX 40-series and 50-series cards, the first official frame generation path for the game.
- AMD FSR Frame Generation for everyone else — Intel Arc, AMD Radeon, older NVIDIA hardware like the RTX 30-series, and integrated GPUs.
- Frame rate limiter for FSR users, with a DLSS-compatible limiter coming in a future patch.
- Download size: roughly 4.2 GB on PS5 and PS5 Pro, 5.1 GB on Xbox Series X, 3.8 GB on PC.
There are known issues to be aware of. FSR Frame Generation crashes on ultrawide monitors and any aspect ratio other than 16:9 — ultrawide users should stay on native DLSS or native resolution until a follow-up hotfix. Switching between DLSS, FSR, and native rendering also requires a full game restart to re-initialize the engine’s upscaling state. The patch notes call these out as known limitations rather than bugs.
For the wiki, the bigger implication is that the project’s framing has changed overnight. Pages like Release Date, Platforms, Editions, and Pre-Order Bonus and Road to Launch Trailer Recap now describe a launched product, not a future one. The performance-mode discussion that filled Day-One 60fps Patch on Console Confirmed is no longer speculation — it is shipped behavior. The three-mode console preset decision will also need to land in the Day and Night Duality and 30-Day Time Mechanic Explained pages eventually, because frame pacing at 40fps versus 60fps changes how combat reads on a VRR display.
For a launching player on launch night, the practical setup is: download the 1.003.000 patch first, pick Performance Mode on PS5/Xbox for fast combat, pick Balanced Mode if your TV supports VRR and you want a sharper image, and pick Quality Mode on PC with DLSS if you have a 40- or 50-series card. FSR is the safe default for everyone else, with the ultrawide caveat.
The day is not over yet — Rebel Wolves still has to ship a hotfix for the stuttering and texture pop-in reports that started appearing in the first wave of reviews. The next patch note entry on this wiki will likely be Hotfix 1.0.2, addressing quest bugs in the first three hours of play.
