The Blood of Dawnwalker hands out roughly thirty named legendary pieces across the three skill trees, plus a Saint Mihai sword that needs eight shards to assemble. None of them come from random drops — each piece sits behind a quest chain, a Court interaction, or a specific boss kill. Knowing which quest gates which piece is what separates a launch-week run from a polished endgame.
This page is the one-stop reference for every confirmed legendary piece in the launch build: armors, weapons, rings, amulets, plus the upgrade path for Saint Mihai’s sword. Pair it with the Best Builds Tier List for how to slot them, and the Clean Kill vs Drink Blood Choices page for the vassal decisions that gate the major armor chains.
How legendary gear unlocks in Dawnwalker
Three unlock paths exist:
- Quest-chain rewards — most legendary armor, plus Saint Mihai’s sword, drop at the end of a named quest chain. Missing one quest stage locks the reward for the rest of the save.
- Boss-loot rewards — Ambrus’s Cuiradiamak and Bakir’s Armor drop from the boss kill. The choice of clean kill versus drink blood still applies (see Clean Kill vs Drink Blood Choices).
- Vendor / shrine rewards — a handful of legendary accessories are purchased from named vendors or unlocked through specific Court activities. These are the easiest to miss because the gold path of progression does not visibly mark them.
The exact drop order is stable across launches; the unlock flag fires when the named quest stage completes, not when the item is picked up.
Legendary armor — ten confirmed pieces
The launch build has ten named armor pieces plus the full Armor of the Arbiter set. Each is tagged with the build phase (day or night) it suits best.
Heavy chestpieces (3)
- Ambrus’s Cuirass — heavy, night-leaning but usable in both sets. Drops from Ambrus the Young Bull on clean kill. Reduces vampiric ability cooldown and stamina cost, restores activation charge from attacks and perfect blocks. The most forgiving early legendary because it does not lock you out of either perk tree.
- Ancient Hero’s armor — heavy, day set. Drops from the In The Name of the Father quest chain in Svartrau City, requires confessing all sins in the conversation before the priest points to the hideout. Boosts human health restoration, witchcraft ability damage, and damage against supernatural enemies. Pair with Ancient Greaves for a strong day-set foundation.
- Ancient Hero’s armor (variant) — same chestpiece as above; the variant in the Armor of the Arbiter full set is the upgraded forge output from Nareh, not a separate drop.
Medium chestpieces (1)
- Isbrand’s Plate — medium, night set only. Drops from the Isbrand Plate reward at the end of the Hive and Seek quest, which is in turn the last stage of the A Friend Like This chain. Adds claw crit chance, claw crit damage, max vampiric health, and blood drinking restoration. Use with claws, not the sword.
Heavy trousers (1)
- Ancient Greaves — heavy, day set. Drops from Anca’s questline chain in Svartrau City at the end of Stronger Than Achilles. To receive the greaves, destroy the Font of Life when prompted. Boosts witchcraft ability damage and magical damage reduction, plus passive activation charge restoration.
Armor of the Arbiter — full set
- Enhanced armor of the Arbiter — Full set — drops from A Bulwark Against Darkness, an Anca side quest that opens after Infamy level 4. Four components, forged by Nareh after the chain completes. Includes chest, greaves, gloves, and helm in the matching legendary tier. Independent of vassal choices, but gated by Infamy progression.
Vhakhir’s Treads & Bracers
- Vhakhir’s Treads & Bracers — acquired from the Vrakhiris banker questline tied to Svartrau City. Light-medium stat profile, useful as filler pieces for hybrid builds that do not commit to either day or night. Method.gg lists this in the quick-links.
Mercenaries Greaves
- Mercenaries Greaves — drops from a named encounter in the southern Vale. Stat-bounded, useful for stamina-heavy or mid-game transition builds.
Wolven Bracers
- Wolven Bracers — a mid-game piece that bridges day and night use. Drops from a Lyani pack encounter in Tantari Woods. Less critical than the named chest pieces but free for any build that touches the Lyani questline.
Pieter’s Garb
- Pieter’s Garb — drops from a named side character encounter. Mixed-stat piece used as a stop-gap or hybrid-build filler. Does not gate any other quest.
Legendary weapons — nine confirmed pieces
The launch build has nine legendary weapons. Most are obtainable from a named encounter or quest stage; one is the upgraded Saint Mihai sword.
Swords
- Durandel — obtainable relatively early. Route to it: head to Svartrau City, enter the Tavern and chat to the innkeeper, pick up the local gossip that triggers the hunt for Skender’s Men. The quest then forks into the actual acquisition. Damage against Supernatural Enemies, reduced attack stamina cost, reduced dodge stamina cost, reduced swordmastery ability cooldown. The most flexible early sword.
- Inbued Sword of St. Mihai — the sword itself is acquired by completing A Monk and a Saint and finding St Mihai in his tomb. The base sword does not live up to its name; the eight scattered shards upgrade it. See Saint Mihai shards below.
- Kingslayer — boss-reward from Brencis’s route, acquired only on the Turncoat ending path. Named weapon, anti-boss damage scaling, paired with the Turncoat narrative.
Two-handed and named swords
- Gladius — early-game route piece, acquired before the Svartrau City gates. Less powerful than Durandel but a clean sword for early duels.
- Uriashi Hermit Legendary Swords — multiple named swords acquired from the Uriashi Hermit questline (plural, not a single weapon). Each hermit sword has a different stat profile and is meant to be assembled into a kit, not a single loadout.
Misc named weapons
- The Prizewinner — PvE arena / named-event reward. Stat-bounded, used as a hybrid slot.
- The Purge — boss-reward from a Court vassal route. Anti-supernatural damage profile.
- Hand of Fate — late-game legendary acquired from a Court 41-activity reward. Used as a stat-stacking filler for night-facing builds.
- The Runner-up — named weapon, hybrid stat profile.
Saint Mihai sword shards
The Inbued Sword of St. Mihai is the launch build’s most-sought-after endgame weapon, but the base sword is incomplete on first acquisition. It needs eight silver fragments scattered around Vale Sangora. You do not need to complete the A Monk and a Saint quest to start the shard run, because the first shard sits near Laslea early enough to be picked up before the southern Vale opens.
The upgrade quest is Forge It Anew, opened once you have the base sword. The shards are listed individually on Method.gg’s Saint Mihai Shard Locations guide (Sep 2, 2026). Once all eight shards are in, the sword picks up its full damage profile and becomes a top-tier night-set option.
Legendary rings and amulets — eleven confirmed pieces
Accessories are the most build-defining part of the loadout because they stack stat profiles that the chest and legs cannot match. Eleven confirmed pieces split between ring slots (2) and amulet slot (1).
Amulets
- Arbiter’s Medallion — the most-used amulet in the launch build. Max stamina, very low stamina cost, very low block stamina cost, physical damage reduction. Acquired from Anca after Infamy level 4. Often held in the amulet slot from mid-game to endgame.
- Mindbrace Amulet — heavy-resistance build pick.
- Vicho’s Cross — acquired at the end of the Vicho quest stage in Svartrau City. Tied to the A Study in Crimson → A Friend Like This chain.
- The Relic of St Dasius — late-game legendary tied to a Saint Mihai side quest. Adds damage against named undead types.
- Corrupted Ring (sometimes used as amulet substitute) — see below.
Rings
- Corrupted Ring — corruption-themed. Best on night-focused vampirism builds.
- Ring of Focus — activation charge restoration on hit.
- Fear of the Wilds — outdoor combat buff. Anti-tantari / region weapon damage.
- Slicer’s Ring — swordmastery-side scaling.
- Ring of the Night — night-phase stat boost when Coen is in vampire form.
- Ring Of Quick Strikes — activation speed boost for fast-attack windows.
- Astrologer’s Ring — late-game named drop from an astrology side chain.
These eleven pieces are the launch-confirmed lineup. Method.gg has them grouped into Quick Links in the Best Amulets & Rings guide.
How to assemble a loadout
The cleanest mid-game loadout looks like:
- Day set: Ancient Hero’s armor + Ancient Greaves + the Burn Ring (use any swordmastery ring) + Arbiter’s Medallion.
- Night set: Isbrand’s Plate + Wolven Bracers + Ring of the Night + Ring of Focus (Corrupted Ring if you can stomach the heat).
- Weapon: Durandel as the early workhorse, switch to Inbued Sword of St Mihai (with all eight shards) for the southern Vale and Svartrau endgame.
This is not the only viable kit. The Best Builds Tier List names four named loadouts that survive the launch-week meta, and the Witchcraft, Swordmastery, Vampirism tree page explains why each tree wants a different stat profile.
Pairing with other guides
- Clean Kill vs Drink Blood Choices — which vassal decisions lock which armor pieces.
- Best Builds Tier List — four named builds that use the gear above.
- Prologue Walkthrough — sets the time budget before any of these chains unlock.
- Svartrau City — the regional anchor for most of the named chains.
- Hex Magic and Burning Blood — covers the magic system that interacts with the Arbiter Set and Witchcraft rings.
If a piece listed here does not appear in your inventory after the named quest stage, the blocker is almost always a vassal decision, a Stone of Narrative epilogue flag, or a missed A Friend Like This trigger. The All Endings Complete Guide is the long-view reference for which quest stages sit behind each ending.
